This traditional polyhedral alcohol lamp features a 120ml glass tank, nickel-plated cap, and fiber wick, allowing for multiple angles. It works by soaking ethyl alcohol up the wick and lighting it with a match or lighter, producing an open flame that is cooler than those produced by propane or butane burners. Generally preferred over Bunsen burners for safety purposes, this lamp's flame is limited in height and size, with a lower temperature than other burner types, making it suitable for standard molecular biology and sterilization procedures. To use: fuel with denatured alcohol (95% or higher), trim the wick to no more than 2cm, and operate under adult supervision; never leave the flame unattended.
