Cefuroxime is a second generation semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits penicillin binding proteins. Cefuroxime is a β-lactam antibiotic that exhibits antibacterial activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria, including species of Haemophilus, Enterobacteriaceae, Staphylococcus, and Klebsiella.
