This rheostat is wound with heavily oxidized constantan (copper-nickel alloy) wire on a vitreous enamel-coated steel tube, supported on die-cast ends. It features a heavy-duty sliding contact made of phosphor bronze and nickel-plated for corrosion resistance. The device has 2.4 mm terminal posts, fitted to facilitate external connection with conventional 4 mm plugs.
