Eisco Labs Tangent Galvanometer measures electric currents by determining the magnitude and direction of the horizontal component of Earth's magnetic field. This device features an aluminum 45mm body compass. Students can place the compass needle parallel to the coil, pass an unknown current through it, and measure the angle of deflection. The galvanometer has a heavy-duty base measuring 8" x 5", copper magnet wire, an adjustable potentiometer, a compass, and a non-magnetic stand. It operates on a D-cell battery (not included).
